Violent spin vibration is a clear signal that something is out of setup alignment.
I tackle load first, then floor, before any deeper mechanical work.
When your GE washer shakes hard during spin, treat it like a setup problem first. Most violent vibration comes from load, level, or support issues.
1. Rebalance Load and Weight
One heavy blanket can knock the balance off in seconds.
Single heavy items or two thick towels at one side throw spin balance off fast. Spread clothes more evenly and remove anything that bulks out one spot.
2. Level Feet and Floor
Loose feet amplify any spin motion at high speed.
If one foot is loose or the floor is uneven, the washer shakes worse at high speed. Tighten each foot, confirm solid floor contact, and raise or lower feet until the machine sits steady.
Quick steps:
- Pause the cycle and open the drum.
- Redistribute clothes evenly.
- Tension every foot so the washer stops rocking.
- Run Spin Only with a medium load.
- Watch for excessive side-to-side movement.
3. Inspect Suspension and Tub Movement
Put a hand on the tub during low spin to feel for extra bounce.
Place a hand on the tub during low-speed spin to feel for excessive bounce. If the basket swings too far, the suspension or support springs may be worn out.
4. Confirm Drain, Flow, and Noise Pattern
Remaining water makes the drum heavier on one side and worsens vibration.
Standing water or a partial drain weakens balance. Once the tub clears, listen for grinding or knocking while the washer spins because those sounds help point to suspension, pump, or bearing issues.
If vibration comes with a noise pattern, compare it to GE washer making loud noises.
5. Run a Controlled Confirmation Cycle
Run a short balanced cycle after each change and compare the movement.
Finish with one short, balanced cycle. If the same shaking or lean returns, the next step is suspension, tub support, or bearing testing.
If hard shaking continues, suspension, tub support, or bearing diagnosis is usually needed.
If similar symptoms show up with water leaks, follow GE washer leaking from the bottom before more spin tests.
If your GE washer still shakes hard, we can inspect suspension and bearing paths onsite.
